We look to the future

Will you join the story?

If you have read the "history lesson" articles, you’ve seen how decades of community passion and resilience turned 113 acres into this gem of a park. As we look toward the next generation of park lovers, we invite you to find your place in the FCRP. Whether you have two hours a month or a specialized skill to share, there are many ways to keep our park thriving.

Get Your Hands Dirty

  • Monthly Work Sessions: Join us for our regular "boots on the ground" days with great help from Park Staff to spread mulch, pull weeds, or clear and maintain trails. It’s the best way to get some fresh air and immediate results.
  • Lead a whole project: Have a specific vision? The FCRP and City Park Staff maintain a wish list of projects that need dedicated leaders to bring them to life. FRCP works with many partnership groups to help fund these and other projects.

Share Your Skills

  • Digital & Tech Support: If you’re more "tech-savvy" than "trail-hardy," we need help growing our new newsletter, managing our social media, or creating Reels to show off the park’s beauty.
  • Event Hosting: Help us keep the park vibrant by volunteering at community favorites like the Boo Bash.

Be a Voice for the Park

  • Strategic Planning: You are invited to attend FCRP Board Meetings that are open to the public, to meet the team. Please review the Parks Master Plan which we helped to write. Get a first look at what’s coming and help us advocate for the park’s future. (The City of Castroville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is also very active in the Regional Park.)
  • Financial Support: Your donations directly fund new gardens, trees, and critical maintenance projects that keep the park safe and beautiful.

A Note from the Board: We are a 501(c)3 non-profit fueled entirely by people like you. No matter how you choose to give, you are ensuring that Castroville Regional Park remains a treasure for all the region.

buttefly garden in bloom

By Helen Delavan, founding member of the FCRP The hillside across the street from the pool, which is now the beloved Butterfly Garden, was a very plain slope for years! My idea was to beautify it, and it evolved into the Butterfly Garden. The timing was right since the 2002 City Administrator’s wife was landscape designer, Maura Yates. She volunteered to design the garden. Butterfly Garden in 2014 - By Troy Wagner Griggs Co. did the concrete ADA ramps with funds from the City. The site plan...

Barrows Bridge Trail Entrance

By Helen Delavan, founding member of the FCRP The lower Regional Park walking trail and the hiking trails were all constructed by volunteers under the supervision of Trail Team Leader, Tim Barrow. They were officially opened to the public in January, 2006. For many years they have been exclusively maintained by volunteers led by the FCRP. The trails are the core reason why the FCRP was formed initially. Barrow's Bridge from 2010 - By Troy Wagner It all happened as a result of a 2001 area-wide...
